The Papua New Guinea government is embarking on a public inquiry into the entertainment industry to form a regulating body.

Chairman of the newly formed Parliamentary Referral Committee on Health and Family Welfare, Cecil Dobura, said yesterday that there was no law in place to regulate entertainment activities.

The National newspaper reports Mr Dobura as saying Parliament questioned some types of businesses that are conducted in night clubs, guest houses, lodges, disco houses and some hotels.

The first public meeting is planned for Port Moresby next week.
