Hawaiian Airlines calls for a meeting with American Samoa's governor

11:25 am on 8 June 2006

The President and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines Mark Dunkerley has responded to a letter from American Samoa's giving the airline a deadline to meet demands or face legal action.

In a conciliatory approach, the CEO suggests a face to face meeting to address issues that Togiola Tulafono raised and offered to be in American Samoa on June 26th.

Mr Dunkerley dismissed the governor's claims of discrimination and said that Hawaiian Air does not tolerate discrimination.

On the issue of airfares, refund policies and other charges, Mr Dunkerley contends that Hawaiian Air takes the same approach for the Pago Pago flights as it does flights to the US mainland.
