The head of the commission of inquiry into the riots in in the Solomons capital, Honiara, is the subject of a police inquiry in Australia.
Marcus Einfeld QC a former federal judge is under investigation over evidence he gave to a Sydney court that allowed him to avoid a speeding fine.
Mr Einfeld gave sworn testimony that he had not been driving his car in January when a speed camera caught it speeding on Sydney's North Shore.
He told the court he had loaned the car to a friend.
Information has since emerged that the friend had in fact died three years before the incident.
