The executive director of American Samoa's political status commission, Fofo Fiti Sunia, has praised the leaders and people of neighboring Samoa for preserving and maintaining the people's indigenous language and culture.
Fofo says Samoa is the only place which has a government that is built within its culture and heritage and American Samoa should follow.
However he says the commission is looking at how to introduce it to American Samoa as it is a territory of the United States.
The executive director and several members of his commission were in Apia for two days observing the way the Samoa is run and to observe the way people live and operate small businesses.
Fofo was raised in Apia where he went to school before his family had moved back to the American Samoan island of Tutuila.
He said he wants members of his commission to see the real fa'asamoa way of living and doings things as a resource for decision making before they report to the legislature ahead of the constitutional convention next year.
