The Solomon Islands Solicitor General says he's been bullyied and intimidated by the Prime Minister for doing his job.
Melbourne lawyer Nathan Moshinsky has resigned and is flying out of Honiara tomorrow after Manasseh Sogavare, threatened to deal with him following the Immigration Minister's arrest last week over the Julian Moti affair.
The Immigration Minister, Peter Shanel is facing charges including perverting the course of justice, after Mr Moti was smuggled into the Solomons on a PNG military plane without a valid passport.
Mr Moshinsky says the Prime Minister has never had the power to remove him, because he's employed by the judicial and legal services commission.
"It's just bluster on the part of the Prime Minister. I consider the Prime Minister's remarks as being a form of intimidation. He has no lawful power to deal with me, because I'm not under his control in law. I am an employee of the government that is protected by a system of laws which would have exempted me from his power and influence."
He claims the main reason he's returning to Melbourne six weeks before his three-year contract expires is for family reasons.
