American Samoa gets new attorney general

The American Samoan governor has appointed Fepuleai Afa Ripley as the territory's new attorney general.

Thsi comes after last month's death of Sialega Malaetasi Togafa.

The appointment of Fepuleai Afa Ripley to the post is subject to legislative approval.

Fepuleai, who has been the chairman of the American Samoa Power Authority, is now acting attorney general the Fono reviews his nomination during next month's special session.

Fepuleai has been operating a private law practice and has previously served as legal counsel for both the Executive and Legislative branches.
