French Polynesian president off for talks in Paris

The French Polynesian president, Gaston Tong Sang, has flown to Paris as France is in the process of changing its administration.

Mr Tong Sang left Tahiti with his economics minister, Teva Rohfritsch, for what are said to be series a meeting ahead of the nomination of a new prime minister and new government following the presidential election.

Mr Rohfritsch is due to attend a meeting of the IEOM, the French agency issuing money for some of its overseas communities.

Mr Tong Sang was in Paris to meet French leaders shortly after he was elected in December.
