A top Fiji rugby sevens player, Waisele Serevi, has been made a special sergeant with the Fiji Police Force.
The Fiji Times Online says Serevi's image and reputation is expected to boost community policing.
Two other rugby platers Mosese Volavola and Manasa Bari were also given promotion at a function at the police compound at Nasova.
The appointments were confirmed by acting police commissioner, Romanu Tikotikoca.
