Tuvalu embarks on an ambitious project

Tuvalu has embarked on an ambitious project to explain to the world's leading nations what impact climate change is having on its people.

The project run by the NGO, Tuvalu Overview, involves filming every Tuvaluan, around 10-thousand in total, and asking them how they see their future.

Publications coordinator, Silafaga Lalua, says while the project won't be fully completed for at least two years they will take some of the work to the G8 summit in Japan next year.

Ms Lalua says she has interviewed around 300 people already, and many were cautious to start with:

"They were a bit hesitant at first because they were being interviewed with the camera in their faces, and someone interviewing them, but as things went on they really like to express their fears and whatever they wanted to talk about."

Publications coordinator, Silafaga Lalua, says the work will also be taken to the climate change conference in Bali later this year.
