The United States Geological Survey reports that a 7.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded 46 kilometres east of Santo in Vanuatu.
The USGS says yesterday's quake was at a depth of 172 km, with an epicenter 1,996 km northeast of Brisbane, Australia.
