The University of Technology in Papua New Guinea faces a strike by students protesting against a 20 percent fee increase.

The National newspaper reports that the governing council held an emergency meeting on the weekend after angry students boycotted the administration and warned of a strike.

The outcome of the meeting is not known.

The president of the Student Representive Council, Kevin Tindipu, says they will decide on the next course of action soon.
