Police in Samoa are concerned about the growing number of incidents involving firearms in the country.

It follows the death of two men in shootings since Christmas Day last year one of which stemmed from a land dispute.

Assistant Police Commissioner, Lilomaiava Fou Taioalo, has appealed to the public to be more patient, tolerant and control their anger.

He says while police have set up awareness programmes to promote safe and peaceful living people still are listening.

The Assistant Commissioner also condemned the rising number of rape cases.

He has urged parents to look after their children.
