The President of French Polynesia has congratulated the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, for his apology speech to the nation's indigenous peoples.
In a letter, Oscar Temaru said he was moved by what he called a brave act.
He told Mr Rudd the apology also sent a strong signal on Australia's new attitude and foreign policy towards its Pacific neighbours.
