Solomon Islands has received the first payment of the 2008 Constituency and Rural Development Fund from Taiwan.
Taiwan's Ambassador presented 1.3 million US dollars to the Solomons prime minister.
The money will help implement the rural policy which is aimed at increasing development in rural areas.
More than 85 percent of the population lives in rural areas.
