Record visitor arrivals to the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas last month totalled more than 40-thousand.

It is the first time in 18 months that tourist numbers for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota have reached that threshold.

According to the Marianas Visitors Authority, February 2008 visitor arrivals was up 6-percent from the around 37,000 tourists who visited the CNMI during the same period last year.

Coupled with the continued growth of the Korean market, the increase was also buoyed by the relative good health of the CNMI's number one visitor market, Japan.
