A case of alleged police brutality has been reported in American Samoa.

Samoa News reports several residents of Pago Pago village claimed two police officers beat a man in front of a night club in the village last month.

The newspaper quoted witnesses saying the officer used a flashlight to beat a Pago Pago village man in his mid twenties.

The acting Police Commissioner, Mike Fuiava, told Samoa News the matter has already been resolved and the man had resisted arrest, according to the police officers involved.

At least four cases of police brutality has been reported by the local media this year and three of those cases went in court.
