Air Pacific hopes to run the Fiji Tens Rugby Tournament as an annual event that will grow to include overseas clubs as well as attract more offshore visitors.
The three day tournament which kicks off today will feature Sydney's Randwick Club as well as another team from Brisbane.
The remaining games will be played on Wednesday and Friday.
Next year invitations will go out to teams in New Zealand, Japan and other rugby playing nations.
Rugby great Mark Ella and Air Pacific sales and marketing manager Michael Nacola say competition will be tough as a total cash prize of $25,000 is at stake.
