American Samoa Visitor's Bureau's hoping to move forward this year with its plans after problems with electing key staff.

The four member board of directors elected Roy J.D. Hall Jr, as its interim chairman so that the bureau can move forward.

Last month a fifth member of the board nomination by the governor was rejected by the House of Representatives thus delaying the bureau's goals.

Mr Hall said the board can do business with four members and the board has discussed the need to advertise the position for an Executive Director and to look for office space.

He said when all board members have been appointed a permanent chairperson will be elected.

The Chamber of Commerce says it has submitted to the governor the name of Derrick Webb general manager of the Tradewinds Hotel as the fifth board member.
