Solomons cabinet re-shuffle expected this week

A reshuffle of government ministers in Solomon Islands appears likely to go ahead this week according to the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation.

The Prime Minister, Dr Derek Sikua, says certain ministers will have to be reshuffled to enable government speed up its planned programmes of action.

He says he's consulting ministers who will be affected in the exercise and as soon as this is done, an announcement will be made.

This would be the first reshuffling of government ministers since Dr Sikua took office in 2007.

The ministerial reshuffle is likely to take after a major reshuffle of Permanent Secretaries, which took effect last Friday.
