A new Premier has been elected in Western Province in Solomon Islands.
George Solingi Lilo was elected premier yesterday after polling 15 votes, five more than the runner-up David Kera who polled ten votes.
Mr Lilo replaces the former Premier, Alex Lokopio, who did not seek re-election.
The new premier says his administration's priorities are constitutional reform and good governance, fiscal and financial stability, promoting economic production and promoting the social sector.
Premier Lilo says under the constitutional reform, his Government will vigorously pursue the proposed federal system of Government until the Western Province becomes a state.
