Vanuatu authorities have issued an alert to the people of Gaua over increased activity at the island's volcano.
Reports from Gaua say during the last few days, the volcano has emitted large quantities of smoke.
People say they have noticed a strong smell of sulphur and they say they need to rinse the vegetables they harvest.
The authorities have asked the people of Gaua to stay away from the volcano's crater.
