The Prime Minister of Vanuatu says Pacific countries must keep pursuing a strong climate change deal as the United Nations conference draws to a close.

Edward Natapei says the success of their efforts will depend on how things unfold in the next day.

"We came in with specific ideas and we were hoping to come away with a legally binding agreement and it seems to be the subject of negotiations. So we are going to have to continue to negotiate up until the very last minute."
