The decline of tourism in French Polynesia has prompted the closure of the Hilton hotel in Tahiti.

The Nouvelles de Tahiti reports that the hotel will close at the end of next month.

140 employees stand to lose their jobs.

There are two Hilton hotels left in the territory - one on Moorea and one on Bora Bora.

The newspaper says the Tahiti hotel may be turned into a clinic.
