Tonga's Lord Ramsay Dalgety is to appear in court tomorrow to be arraigned on a charge of perjury.
Lord Dalgety was arrested after he had given evidence at the inquiry into the sinking of the Princess Ashika, which sank last August with the loss of 74 lives.
The former Scottish admiralty lawyer was the secretary of the state-owned company which operated the vessel.
No details of what the perjury charge relates to have been released but it's understood there's a link to the Ashika sinking.
Our correspondent in Tonga, Mateni Tapueluelu, says there is a lot of anger about the role of Lord Dalgety in the disaster.
"A lot of fingers pointing at him. Because his specialty has got to do with shipping they expected a lot more from to him to advise the shipping properly and therefore a lot fingers pointing at him now."
