CNMI Senate still opposed to Saipan casino

Some senators in the Northern Marians say they will oppose the Saipan casino bill that the House of Representatives passed or respect the passage of a Senate resolution in April blocking any legislation to legalise casino operations on the island.

Others said they have yet to see the casino bill.

The Senate floor leader Pete Reyes, who is the author of Senate Resolution, maintains that House Speaker Froilan Tenorio's casino bill will get killed in the Senate.

Six senators voted yes on Mr Reyes' resolution in April, one voted no and two abstained.

Senate Vice President Jude Hofschneider said that Saipan voters already turned down the casino initiative in 2007.
