Melanesian Arts Festival opens in New Caledonia

The fourth Melanesian Arts Festival has opened in New Caledonia and is to run until the 24th of this month.

The event is being attended by groups from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji.

About 350 foreign participants have joined the 350 local artists and performers.

This year's festival is to be moved from one area to the next, starting in Kone in the northern province before going to the Loyalty Islands province and finally to Noumea.
