Samoa experienced a drop in tourist numbers in February.

All source markets reported reductions which reduced total tourism earnings for the month.

The Central Bank of Samoa reports that total tourist arrivals in February declined 25 percent to 7,273, a level that was still 2 percent higher than February 2010.

Major reductions were recorded for most tourist source markets, which when combined more than offset a 13 percent increase in average spending by tourists.

The top three tourist market are New Zealand, Australia and American Samoa.
