Samoa's Attorney General, Aumua Ming Leung Wai, has applied to the court for the remaining election private prosecution cases to be discontinued.
It refers to the case by former opposition MP, Toluono Feti, against the ruling party MP, Afoafouvale John Moors, and the case by unsuccessful Tautua Samoa party candidate, Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio, against the minister of police, Sala Fata Pinati.
The Attorney General says he filed a Notice Discontinuance pursuant to his powers under the Constitution, which grants the AG the discretion to discontinue any criminal proceedings in Court.
Aumua says it was filed on the basis that the charges in each of the matters were filed outside the time period stipulated in the Electoral Act
However Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio has told reporters that he decided to withdraw his case last Tuesday against the minister of police after resolving the matter between him and the minister.
