The American Samoa Government's proposed Fiscal Year 2012 budget, totals just over US$470 million, an 8% increase over the previous year.

There's a 16% increase in Enterprise Funds for the new fiscal year.

Governor Togiola Tulafono attributes the hike in Enterprise Funds as a direct result of FEMA post tsunami recovery construction projects.

Overall, local funds for 2012 drop 2% on the previous fiscal year.

Of the US$66 million in local revenues in the budget $54.6 million is allocated for salaries, which is a drop of 9% as a result of savings in personnel spending from the reduction in workforce.

The governor says 40% of the ASG workforce, or 2,269 positions are paid with local funds.
