American Samoa House approves amended medical referral bill

1:41 pm on 6 April 2012

American Samoa's House of Representatives has approved in second reading the appropriations bill to fund the medical referral program.

But the amount would be reduced from 10 million US dollars to 2.4 million after a raft of amendments to reduce the tax and fee hikes.

The bill is now set for a final reading by Monday, and if it passes it will be sent to the Senate.

Senators have already rejected their version of the bill.
