The Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, Gordon Darcy Lilo, has thanked rescuers involved in saving all 49 people from the sunken Solfish 001.

The 27-metre coastal trading vessel is believed to have capsized in heavy seas en route to the country's most eastern province, Temotu last week.

All passengers and crew were rescued from five floating life rafts three days after the ship sank.

Mr Darcy Lilo has commended the professionalism and commitment of overseas and local authorities and individuals involved in the search and rescue mission.
