A couple has appeared in the Samoa District Court accused of running a prostitution operation.

Metala James and Sanele Sanele face 13 charges in relation to prostitution.

The court heard the couple had forced five girls into having sex with men, charging eight US dollars.

It's alleged that in one session one of the girls had sex with three Chinese men for 21 US dollars

The first witness testified that clients paid the money directly to Metala James, and she was only given food and alcohol.

The witness was 20 years old.

The second witness was not available to testify as she had school exams.

The hearing has been adjourned to Friday.
