Fiji's interim prime minister and sugar minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has called for a collective approach to deal with challenges in the sugar industry.
Addressing the Asia Pacific Sugar Conference in Nadi, he has highlighted the reforms undertaken by his government to bring about a sustainable sugar industry.
According to Fijilive, Commodore Bainimarama has underlined that Fiji is committed to creating a modern, economically viable and sustainable sugar industry.
He says the industry is a major economic driver and responsible for the livelihood of about 20 percent of the population.
