A Congresswoman in the Northern Marianas, Janet Maratita, has filed a police complaint, alleging a fellow politician had repeatedly threatened to kill her.
She is accusing Senator Juan Ayuyu of making the threats during a phone conversation with Ms Maratita's lawyer.
Ms Maratita says she was in the room at the time and with the phone speaker on she was able to hear the threats.
Mr Ayuyu has denied making the threats.
