No confirmed date for constitution - Fiji Attorney General

10:39 am on 8 April 2013

A Fiji website reports there is no confirmed date on when Fiji's constitution will come into effect.

Fiji Village reports Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, saying the submission period will end on the 26th of this month.

He says the government will then work on any amendments to the draft.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum says a lot of work also needs to take place to ensure that people understand the new electoral system that will be adopted.

Fiji people were earlier told the constitution would be announced this Friday but that was then delayed until the 26th.
