The National Rugby League says it will continue to investigate assault allegations against the South Sydney forward Ben Te'o, despite Queensland police confirming the matter is closed.

The former Samoa international rejects claims that he assaulted a woman in Brisbane last month, the night after the Australia-New Zealand test.

The Brisbane woman says she was hit by Te'o at the home of a Brisbane Broncos player, alleging Te'o punched her in the face and continued to hit her while she was on the ground, before being left in the house as she fell unconscious.

A police spokesman says the matter is no longer under investigation following a request from the complainant, who's formally withdrawn all allegations.
