The General Manager of the Vanuatu Tourism Office, Linda Kalpoi, says her office is working with the State Law Office and diving industry to investigate the death of a tourist who died while diving off Santo earlier this month.

A 33-year old American, Laila Osunsade, had been scuba diving with a local company Aquamarine Santo off the wreck of an American troop ship.

Ms Kalpoi says they are in the process of setting up the terms of reference for the investigation and are also liasing with people from the diving industry in Australia.

She says the investigation could also look at whether diving operators in Vanuatu need to be better regulated.
