More than 150 asylum seekers in Nauru are expected to appear in court on Wednesday after being arrested following a riot at the Australian-run detention centre.
The Nauru government says the incident on Friday night caused 55 million US dollars worth of damage, including the destruction of accommodation blocks, the medical centre and half the kitchen, when fire swept through the camp.
The Director of the Government Information Office, Joanna Olsson says 152 men have been arrested and remain in police custody.
"I think they're sort of waiting to have them identified because obviously the office building that all the identity papers were in was also up in flames. So they're trying to identify who's who."
Joanna Olsson says a clean up of the centre has begun and the remaining asylum seekers are being housed in tents.
At the end of the week they are expected to be relocated to a second camp that is being built to accommodate families..
