The Papua New Guinea government says its relation with Fiji will not be affected by Fiji's refusal to recognise the appointment of PNG High Commissioner, Peter Eafeare, as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Fiji.
A spokesperson for the PNG Prime Minister, Daniel Korimbao, has told the Fiji Times that Mr Eafeare is back in PNG for consultations.
Mr Korimbao didn't say what reasons the Fiji government gave for rejecting Mr Eafeare's appointment.
The Fiji government has not explained its decision.
