A dump in the Northern Marianas will finally be closed, with the tender awarded to a company.
The long-delayed closure of the Puerto Rico dumpsite on Saipan will finally begin after the Governor, Eloy Inos signed a $21 million-dollar contract.
The dump, located at the northwestern coast of Garapan, was used for the disposal of non-hazardous solid waste between the years of 1950 and 2003.
Lieutenant Governor Ralph Torres had earlier promised the administration would work toward the closure of the Puerto Rico dump during this term.
