Rota doctor in life support after gruesome stabbing

A doctor is fighting for his life at a Guam hospital after being stabbed with a fishing spear by a man on Saturday at his home on Rota.

Francois Claasens was the lone physician at the Rota Health Centre.

The 60-year-old doctor is unconscious and on life support at the Guam Naval Hospital after suffering numerous puncture wounds, broken limbs and a skull fracture.

A 36 year old man appeared in court on Monday on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
