Fiji will take on Vanuatu in a football friendly on Saturday without their star striker Roy Krishna.

Krishna is expected to turn out for the Wellington Phoenix for their A-League match against the Central Coast Mariners on Sunday.

But Krishna says he will back for the Fijians in their return match on Tuesday.

He says he is looking forward to representing his country after a long break between internationals.

"The last time the national team played was two or three years ago and then the recent one was against the Phoenix. This is the second time we're playing our international game and Vanuatu is a good boost and hopefully they can do well. I heard from the boys, they are training really hard, twice a day, so probably they will be fit. Hopefully they can win on Saturday so there will be a bit less pressure on me on Tuesday."
