The Papua New Guinea opposition has called for the revival of the National Narcotics Bureau to counter under-age drinking.

The opposition leader, Don Polye, says underage drinking and drug abuse are signs and symptoms of break-down in the parental responsibility or social security.

He made the remark on learning that primary school students were arrested and charged by police in Morobe's Lae city for drinking as well as producing illicit home-brew.

Mr Polye has called on fellow parents to introduce their children to broader spectrum of social activities for their living, hobby and/or entertainment.
