Guam abuse protestors suspend pickets

2:17 pm on 10 July 2017

Catholic community groups in Guam advocating for Archbishop Anthony Apuron's permanent removal held their last protest in front of the island's cathedral on Sunday, in order to give the Vatican space to make a decision.

The groups have announced their decision to stop picketing with a Catholic issues blogger Tim Rohr saying it would be counterproductive to continue.

He said the Vatican tribunal holding Archbishop Apuron's trial wouldn't want to be seen as being forced to make a decision because of community pressure on Guam.

According to the groups about 40 to 50 Catholics have protested every Sunday for over a year.
