New Zealand says it will provide $US8.3 million for aviation security to assist trade and tourism in the Pacific.

The announcement was made by foreign minister Gerry Brownlee, who said equipment and training would benefit nine countries over the next five years to meet their international aviation regulatory obligations.
Mr Brownlee, who three years ago was fined for breaching airport security, said the package will support the safety of the travelling public, most of which are New Zealand citizens.
The package will be implemented by New Zealand's Civil Aviation Authority.
