An app to track Myrtle Rust

From Afternoons, 1:14 pm on 28 November 2017

There are fears that Myrtle Rust, a plant disease which could kill off native plants, could spread further with the disease now found in Auckland.

Authorities have been worried about Myrtle Rust since it was first discovered in Northland in May, and there have since been more than 2000 potential sightings of it.

To help the Ministry of Primary Industries keep track of the disease, an App has been created so people can quickly and easily let officials know if they suspect they've spotted it in their gardens. Entomologist Stephen Pawson explains how it works.
