Australian duo Electric Fields are in New Zealand for the country's indigenous film festival, Maoriland, and have stopped by our studio today to play a first song. 

Their sound has been described as "daft punk meets Nina Simone", mixing soul and electronica with a distinctly unique voice - thanks to singer Zaachariaha Fielding. You may know the name if you were an X factor fan years ago. He's joined by producer and and musician Michael Ross. 

1:15 Mountain biking as an industry 

Mountain biking in Nelson is having a boom. 

The beautiful scenery means it's a great spot to take a ride. Importantly though, it's bringing in tourists, and with them, big economic gains. 

It's not just in Nelson either - tourist towns and cities around the country are reaping the benefits of the sport. 

But it's still recognised more as a hobby than an industry. Paul Jennings from the Nelson Mountain Bike Club tells us more about it. 

1:25 Biodiversity and Auckland's 10-year plan

Is a healthy environment a great extra for a city or should it be a key part of policy decisions? 

It's a question to be asked as Auckland looks ahead to what its money should be spent on over the ten years. 

One of those arguing the importance and worth of biodiversity is Ecologist Dr Margaret Stanley from the University of Auckland. She's part of a panel discussing the issues tonight.

For those who need them, they can be subsidised. But are they still thought of as something of a weakness? Why not as a simple aid like glasses are?

Katy tells us about two new podcasts she has been listening to, The Tip Off, Presented by Maeve McClenaghan from the London Bureau of Investigation and the satirical podcast, A Very Fatal Murder, which was made by The Onion.

In her fortnightly segment on money, Personal Finance Expert looks at the pluses and minuses of renting - including less responsibility but also less control over your living environment. She says renters can move more easily, but they can also be forced to move when they don't want to, so there are some psychological pluses and minuses too.

She says discouraged renters who feel they may never save enough to own their own home should consider making the most of being a tenant for life, or at least until retirement. To make it work, they need to save lots - to cover their rent in retirement or to buy a house then. But they can afford to. Their accommodation expenses are lower. Weighing up the finances, they might come out as well off, or better off, than their home-buying friends.
