Fonterra is considering building another large milk powder drier in South Waikato that would create 50 jobs.
The dairy cooperative says the investment would be part of up to $500 million of capital expenditure it's bringing forward over the next few years.
Operations director Robert Spurway says the new drier would be built at Lichfield.
It would be similar to the one at the Darfield plant, which is the largest in the world.
Mr Spurway says the plans aren't confirmed yet, but such a drier would help boost processing capacity to meet expected increases in milk powder production.
