Auckland's continuing to lead the charge in the call for workers.
The ANZ Bank's monthly survey found seasonally adjusted job ads rose 0.7 percent to 37,392 in February, reversing most of the previous month's fall.
On an annual basis, job ads rose 8 percent.
Using a three-month average to reduce volatility, Auckland jumped 13 percent, compared with six percent in Canterbury, while Wellington fell four percent.
ANZ senior economist Sharon Zollner said Auckland's neighbouring region Waikato also experienced a fall in job ads, which she put down to falling dairy prices.
"Waikato job ads were not so strong, perhaps, I think maybe we're seeing a bit of a dairy impact there.
"Generally speaking of course the population growth has been in Auckland, and you do see an increase in not only labour supply but also labour demand.
"With migration, these people need services and houses and clothes and coffees and the rest of it, so it isn't surprising that Auckland has seen the strongest growth."
Ms Zollner expected unemployment, which currently stands at 5.7 percent, would ease only modestly over the coming year, due to strong immigration boosting labour supply.
