Solid Energy says coal export prices are continuing to increase and demand for coal remains stable in New Zealand.

The state owned company says coal sales rose 18% in the first three months of the year, compared with the same period last year.

Biodiesel sales rose 73% and wood pellet sales increased 262%.

Solid Energy declared an interim dividend of $20 million, which was paid to the Government at the end of March.
